Precision Biopsy is led by CEO Amir Tehrani, who has over 20 years’ of experience in management and operations, strategy, business development, marketing, design and development for Fortune 500 and start-up medical device companies. Prior to Precision Biopsy, Amir was the President and CEO of Amaranth Medical, Inc., a bioabsorbable stent company. He has been instrumental in the formation and financing of several medical device companies, including Inspiration Medical, Inc., Corventis, Inc. (acquired by Medtronic, Inc.), Spinal Modulation, Inc., (acquired by St. Jude Medical), Sonitus Medical, Inc., and RODO Medical, Inc. Amir also led successful investments and acquisition in the medical technology sector at Guidant Compass Group. He also held several leading marketing and engineering positions at Guidant Vascular Intervention, St. Jude Medial CRM Division, Ventritex, Inc., (acquired by St. Jude Medical), and MiniMed, Inc. Dr. Priya Werahera, PhD

For more than two decades, Precision Biopsy Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Priya Werahera has been devoted to improving prostate cancer diagnostics and therapies as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Bioengineering at the University of Colorado. Among his many clinical research accomplishments include the development of a computer algorithm and methodology that make it possible to use 3D computer models of prostates to demonstrate the efficacy of prostate biopsy protocols, and the initial proof-of-concept work that paved the way for low-risk prostate cancer patients to benefit from targeted focal therapy. Priya holds two BS degrees (University of Moratuwa, Council of Engineering Institute), an MS from Oregon State University and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Colorado State University. He has earned several notable patents for his work in tissue classification, published more than 30+ papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference publications and is a senior member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).READ MORE

John Nichols has been building category-defining products in the medical, telecom and industrial technology sectors for over 35 years. He’s well versed in managing diverse, multi-discipline staffs in executing the product development cycle from phase zero through product launch. Prior to joining Precision Biopsy as Vice President of Product Development, John held leadership positions in both the medical sector (Hach, Tensentric, Plexus GE Medical and Datex-Ohmeda) and the networking and telecommunications sector (Cellport, Aztek Engineering, Lucent Technologies and AT&T Bell Laboratories). He spent his first years as an engineer at Bell Labs, where he earned several patents in telecommunications. John has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University Fort Collins.READ MORE

Jill Smith is the CEO of Allied Minds and an Executive Director of the Board. Jill brings more than 25 years of experience as an international business leader, including 16 years as CEO of private and public companies in the technology and information services markets. Most recently, Smith served as Chairman, CEO and President of DigitalGlobe Inc. (NYSE: DGI), a global provider of satellite imagery products and services. Smith started her career as a consultant at Bain & Company, where she rose to become Partner. She subsequently joined Sara Lee as Vice President, and went on to serve as President and CEO of eDial, a VoIP collaboration company, and of SRDS, a business-to-business publishing firm. She also served as Chief Operating Officer of Micron Electronics, and co-founded Treacy & Company, a consulting and boutique investment business.
She currently serves as an independent director on the boards of Endo International plc (NASDAQ: ENDP) and Hexagon (Nasdaq Stockholm: HEXA B).

Omar Amirana is a Senior Vice President of Allied Minds. Prior to Allied Minds, Omar was a partner in Oxford Bioscience Partners, a Boston-based venture capital firm with $1 billion under management. He has developed and launched products worldwide, and served on the boards of many life science companies, including Flowmedical, SmartPIll, Coherex, Mitralign and Cambridge Endoscopic Devices. Omar is currently on the board of Cardiofocus (AF catheter ablation) as well as the Ignition Awards Committee at Boston University. As a co-founder of Propel Careers, he is passionate about helping aspiring entrepreneurs in life sciences.
